title: "Showing a note in more than one place"
---

## Setting one up

1. Start a new bullet and type `! `.
2. Pick a note from the list that appears.

That bullet now shows the note you picked. Edit the original anywhere in
Mimir, and every place it's shown changes with it.

You can't type into a shown copy — it always shows the original's current
text, word for word. Click into it and the arrow keys move you between
the start and the end of the text, not through individual words. Press an
arrow key again at either end to leave it and land on the note before or
after it.

The original shows a small count next to it: **Shown in *N* places**.
Click the count to see every place it's shown.

## If the original is deleted

A shown copy keeps the last text it displayed and becomes an ordinary,
independent bullet you can type into. Nothing marks that it used to be a
copy.

## Disconnecting a copy

Open the small menu next to a shown copy and choose to disconnect it.
It keeps its current text and becomes an ordinary bullet, the same as if
the original had been deleted.
