title: "Mimir Highlighter"
---

A Chromium browser extension, separate from Mimir itself. Highlight text
on any page, optionally attach a note to it, then copy everything you
highlighted, formatted, ready to paste into Mimir. It doesn't save whole
pages and has no reader mode. It highlights and copies, nothing more.

It keeps its own storage in the browser and has no connection to your
Mimir notes until you paste.

The Mimir Highlighter isn't available to install yet.

## Highlighting and copying a note

1. Click the toolbar icon to pick up the pen. A toolbar appears at the
   bottom right of the page.
2. Select any text on the page to highlight it. There's no confirmation
   step. Selecting is highlighting.
3. To attach a note, click a highlight.
4. Type your note. It saves as you type.
5. Click **Save** to close the note.
6. Click the toolbar to copy every highlight and note on the page,
   formatted for Mimir:

   ```
   - "the highlighted text"
     - your note on it
   - "another highlight with no note"
   ```

7. Paste into any note in Mimir.

To delete a single highlight, click it, then click **Remove**.

To put the pen down, click the toolbar icon again. Your highlights stay
saved. Putting the pen down only hides them from the page.

Right-click the toolbar icon for **Delete all highlights from cache**,
which clears every highlight you made on every page. There's no way
to clear a single page's highlights from within the page itself.
