title: "Changing the text size"
---

Your notes get bigger as the window gets wider. In a small or default-size
window, text is at its standard size. Widen the window and the text grows
with it, so each line keeps about the same number of words instead of
stretching across the screen. Only your notes change size. Menus, buttons,
and search stay the same.

To make the text larger or smaller than that:

- Press **Cmd/Ctrl-Plus** to make the text one step larger.
- Press **Cmd/Ctrl-Minus** to make it one step smaller.
- Press **Cmd/Ctrl-0** to go back to the size that fits the window.

On a Mac, you can also right-click the empty space on either side of your
notes and choose **Text Size**.

Your change stays in place after a resize. Text that you made two steps
larger stays two steps larger as the window grows or shrinks.

Text has a smallest and a largest size. The smallest is the standard size.
The largest is six steps above it. At either limit, pressing the shortcut
again makes the page bounce slightly, and the size stays the same.

Each device keeps its own text size. A change on your Mac doesn't affect
your iPhone or iPad.

**On iPhone and iPad**, the same shortcuts work with a hardware keyboard.
On an iPad, text also grows a little when you turn it to landscape or give
Mimir more of the screen.
